About Me
“Let the beauty of what you love be what you do.”
~ Rumi
My name is Laura Lavoie and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor practicing in Denver, Colorado. I received both my Bachelors degree in Psychology and Masters degree in Counseling Psychology from the University of Kansas. Prior to working in private practice, I worked as a therapist at the Eating Recovery Center in Denver, a hospital that specializes in the treatment of eating disorders.
Now, in my private practice, I specialize in the treatment of anxiety, depression, eating disorders, body image issues, trauma, relationship issues, self worth, and confidence. For the past 10 years, I have worked in both hospital and private practice settings with individuals, couples, and families to help restore health, balance and overall well being.
I also enjoy working with creative people (and believe we are all creative) who need help overcoming fears of failure and other barriers to working freely with their creative minds.
I strive to empower my clients to be their most amazing, vibrant, and truest selves. It is normal to struggle and can also be exciting when you recognize you want to create something new in your life. We are NOT hard wired for change but we ARE innately predisposed to search for possibilities that support our values, goals, and dreams. I see my clients as creative, capable and whole. We live in a society that is focused on external “success” and appearance and this can create an internal chaos and disconnection from that which truly feeds the spirit. The good news is that we don’t have to live this way.
My goal is to help my clients let go of external pressures and refocus their energy to enrich their lives. This is how we can get “unstuck,” change our unhealthy patterns, and create a life that is invigorating and nourishing to the mind, body, and soul. In my practice, I provide clients with the tools they need to put an end to unhealthy habits, patterns, and relationships and create a life they are excited about!
During my free time, I enjoy playing the piano and singing, traveling, writing, reading, making jewelry, running, getting out into nature, playing with my dog, and connecting with my friends and family.
